Belleville New Tech Sophomores in Economics and Literature launched a new project at the end of January. The project is called “Living The Dream.” It is designed to engage students in planning for the realities of their future.
In this project BNT students will prepare for their future by:
- creating a financial plan based on their potential dream career and back up career
- writing a paper including research on their college and career opportunities
- participating in a mock interview with community members
- introducing us to the adult they will become at the mock “BNT class of 2015 fifteen year reunion”
We are in need of parents and community members to help make this project be the best that it can be. We are looking for people to speak to our students about their careers and the path they took to get there. The more diverse panel of career fields, the better. We also would like as many people as possible to help us conduct mock interviews. We would like our students to experience the interview process when the stakes are not high.
Ideally, if your workplace is open to having Belleville New Tech students job shadow or intern, we could make this project even more meaningful. Our students are yearning to experience the workforce in any way that they can.
If you would like to get involved by speaking to our classes about your career path, helping with mock interviews, or allowing a student to shadow you, please contact us by email.
We look forward to building a relationship with the community that will best prepare our students for the future.

Living the Dream – Entry Document
I would like to introduce myself as your Interim Belleville New Tech Director.
As you know Mr. Jason Butka’s position has changed in order to allow him to work more with the students within Belleville New Tech and help the students plan their college and career pathways. I am very excited to be working in a program that offers the young learners of Van Buren Public Schools the opportunity to apply their learning, connect with the community, and to prepare for their future using new research based techniques.
As our New Tech population grows to full implementation in the next few years, I look forward to building upon the successes already experienced at Belleville New Tech. I can be contacted for questions concerns or comments at any time through my email firstname.lastname@example.org, or you may call the high school and leave a message or set up an appointment.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite all the New Tech parents to the next Parent Action Committee (PAC) meeting on Wednesday February 20th from 6pm-7pm in the BHS Media Center. This would be a great time for you to meet me and connect with other New Tech Parents. We are also planning a Parent U evening with a focus on navigating Echo. The date of this parent workshop will be Wednesday, February 6th from 6:30pm-7:30pm. The workshop will be held in the high school computer labs near the media center.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Scott R. Wilsey
Calling all BNT parents….. Students ask your folks!
We need you to help RAISE THE BANNER!
Bellleville New Tech and its parent group would like to purchase two full color vinyl banners (fairly large 4ft by 6 or 4ft by 8ft) to be able to showcase Belleville New Tech at events and functions within the school and the community, including the 2013 Strawberry Festival!!!
We need to raise funds to purchase high quality banners that will last several years and represent BNT well.
We have an exciting opportunity to work an evening U of M event on February 5th that will make $400 for this purpose!
Mens Basketball Game
Tuesday Feb 5th U of M vs OHIO STATE Crisler Center 9pm
Its a late game, so we really need adults for this event.
Volunteer check in is at 7pm at Crisler and we should be done around 11-11:30
please email email@example.com if you can join us this evening!
Reminder: January 16th, 6 pm BHS Media Center
We will be focusing on group objectives!
All groups can use more parent and facilitator support…stop by and see how you can make a difference in your student’s BNT experience!
- Float building committee; Strawberry Festival (June 14, 15, 16)
- Community Communications Experts/Parent Project Review Team
- Field Trip Advisory Group: Still in need of a group lead
- Celebration Advisory Group
Hope to see you there…Bring a friend!
PAC is working on finding sources for BNT Banners to use at various events and functions, these would need to be fairly large and made of a durable vinyl material with good ink (UV) to last a good long time indoors and out! If you know anyone who does this and would give BNT a fair price for these, Please let us know! We will consider all options.
Please respond this this message or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
